Ironing Your Casual Plus Size Clothing

January 30th, 2012 by Lisa Metcalf

Thanks to all the designers that have now joined the world of plus size fashion, curvy ladies have way more options to choose from when they want a nice outfit. Now the concern has shifted away from finding the right outfit to caring for your garments properly. Before you iron your favorite casual plus size clothing, make sure you are using the right heat to make sure your favorite blouses, jackets, pants, and skirts last.

The ideal heat level to use when ironing your casual plus size clothing depends on the fabric. Lightweight cotton should be ironed on medium heat, while heavier cotton garments take high heat and are best ironed while damp. Silk and wool should both be ironed on low-medium heat on the wrong side. Silk should not be steamed. For wool, placing a damp cloth between your iron and the fabric is best.

Synthetic materials such as rayon, nylon, and polyester require low or low-medium heat when being ironed. Rayon specifically comes out best when ironed on the wrong side. And any casual plus size clothing made of a synthetic blend should also be ironed on low-medium heat to prevent burning or other damage.

Casual Plus Size Clothing To Show Off Your Legs

December 15th, 2011 by Lisa Metcalf

Skirts are an important part of any woman’s wardrobe, and with good reason. They are super versatile and can be perfect both as casual plus size clothing and as professional office plus size clothing.

But some women are not sure how to pick the right skirts. You may be worried about color, style, length, and other factors. So, how can you choose a lovely skirt for any event, casual, professional, or formal?

When it comes to casual looks, keep things light and comfortable. Skirts that have an easy fit and are easy to move around in are great. Simple colors will be easiest to match with plus size tops, but you don’t have to limit yourself to dark or solid colors – choose whatever you like!

In the professional environment, you may want to keep a more conservative look. That does not mean you have to be boring. But you may prefer more subdued or dark colors. Keeping the length to just below the knee can be a very flattering look at the office. A skirt combined with a business jacket or button up blouse makes a fantastic office plus size clothing outfit.

Formal outfits that feature dressy skirts can be absolutely breathtaking. Most formal skirts will be black, navy, or other dark colors and will be longer than most casual skirts. Make sure to combine your ensemble with fashionable accessories too to complete a great outfit.

Plus size skirts and plus size separates are easy to mix and match into whatever style you like – casual, professional, formal, and anything in between.

Packing Casual Plus Size Clothing for Your Next Trip

October 3rd, 2011 by Lisa Metcalf

If you’re planning a trip, one of the biggest projects you’ll have to face is packing. Whether you’re going away for a week or just a weekend, there are lots of things to consider. What kinds of outfits will you need? Can you get away with just casual plus size clothing, or do you need some formal outfits too? How can you bring everything you need but still pack light and bring low maintenance outfits?

For starters, make sure you choose wrinkle free garments whenever you can. Nothing ruins a vacation like being late for an event because you have to iron a blouse.

Bring mix and match separates you love. That way you can maximize the number of outfits you have. With just a few blouses and pants, you can create several outfits and pack as light as possible.

The more time you have to shop for your trip and plan your packing technique, the better. If you have to pack in a rush, you’ll be less likely to do it well. So take your time, find some great casual plus size clothing, and enjoy your travels!

September 8th, 2011 by Lisa Metcalf

Many women have a hard time finding great outfits to wear to work. You might feel uncomfortable, too formal, or too casual in your clothing. And you always want to look your very best at work – the goal is “dress to impress”. If you want to update your office plus size clothing, where can you find some nice new styles?

When it comes to shopping for office plus size clothing, the Internet is your best friend. But if you shop online, you can order lovely new clothing in just a few minutes.

Shopping for Casual Plus Size Clothing at the Mall?

August 22nd, 2011 by Lisa Metcalf

I recently asked a friend when was the last time she bought clothes for herself at the mall. She told me it had been at least a year. But, she still winds up going to the mall rather often. If she’s not there with her daughter and her friends, she goes with me and our girlfriends.

It made me wonder, should I be shopping for casual plus size clothing there? And I realized that I already do.

When I’m at the mall, I like to have a good time with friends. That means getting lunch, wandering around, and doing lots of window shopping. Not window gazing, window shopping. That’s because, even if I’m not going to buy anything from that store, I am thinking about what I can buy from online shops.

So the next time you’re at the mall, don’t just gaze, shop. Take a few snapshots on your phone of your favorite mannequins. And then, when you’re at home, check out casual plus size clothing stores. That way you can get the styles and outfits you want, but at a better price and in the right size for you.

Will Your Casual Plus Size Clothing Offer The Right Fit?

August 10th, 2011 by Lisa Metcalf

This is a question lots of women ask themselves before ordering casual plus size clothing online. And it’s no wonder why; getting the right fit is very important. Even the most attractive formal outfit will look bad if you’re wearing the wrong size. Before you make a purchase online, how can you be sure that your new garments will fit nicely?

For starters, you need to know your measurements. Most online stores offer sizing charts to help you choose your size. These are very helpful, but only if you have your correct measurements to compare with the chart.

Another important tip; concentrate on getting a good fit, not getting into a smaller size. Some women are so concerned about wearing the smallest size possible that they buy sizes too small and their outfits fit too tight. Avoid this by always choosing the size that fits your measurements. That way your casual plus size clothing will look great, fit comfortably, and give you lots of confidence.

Age Appropriate and Casual Plus Size Clothing

August 4th, 2011 by Lisa Metcalf

On a recent trip to a large shopping mall, I was reminded of how distorted people’s images of fashion and beauty are. A considerable amount of women should be shopping in the plus size department, but they refuse too. Instead they try to fit into smaller sizes and the results are not flattering. The same happens with age appropriate dress; mothers wearing blouses designed for their teenage daughters just don’t look good.

Mature plus size clothing for women does not have to be trendy or try to chase down the latest fashion crazes. But it does need to be classically designed and made to fit well. Not too tight, and not too loose either. Women have curves, they are beautiful, and a nice outfit should show them off.

Finding age appropriate clothing doesn’t mean that every woman over 40 needs to start dressing like their grandmother. You can look your best without looking your trendiest. Casual plus size clothing, combined with some nice accessories and a good sense of fashion, will earn you lots of head turns and complements.

Save on Shipping When You Buy Casual Plus Size Clothing Online

May 19th, 2011 by Lisa Metcalf

Shopping for casual plus size clothing online is much easier than it is in local department stores. Most stores don’t have a very good selection. If you manage to find a piece you really like, chances are you’ll have a hard time finding it in your size. And, in the off chance you do, you might need to sit down before you look at the price tag.

Shopping online offers a very different experience. You can get clothing made from top quality fabric for a lot less than you would expect. Many online stores have sales that really help you save a lot on your new garments. But some people are surprised by the cost of shipping and handling from these stores.

It’s easy to save on your shipping costs. Many stores offer free shipping on orders over a certain price. So buying a few different plus size blouses, separates, and jackets at the same time can wind up saving you a bit of money on shipping and handling. Keep an eye out for special free shipping or reduced shipping sales from these stores too.
