Me and My Juicer: Health Booster
I recently realized that it is time for me to think about my health. For the last 14 years, I have been a mother, boss, wife and cook. Almost daily I have been telling myself I will get to the gym and eat better tomorrow. Tomorrow is today. I will take this off my “mental” list. For many years there has been a Revolution to detox. For for all those years I kept thinking what are we detoxing from? I thought about it ~ from pollution in the air, chemicals in our food, creams we put on our skin, second hand smoke, soaps/softeners in our linens, the list is endless. I found it! – A way to boost my health and join the Revolution. I do not like drinking water because it is tasteless. So to increase my water intake and boost my health; I purchased a juicer! Everyday I juice carrots or cucumbers with water. I make 2 liters. I discover that carrots are effective in detoxifying the liver and cucumbers good for treating both low blood pressure and high blood pressure.
In the first 3 weeks I lost a couple of pounds. My intention was not to lose weight but it came along with the new health plan! (As a plus size woman, losing a few pounds is always welcome!). I also discovered I had more energy and found I did not need my afternoon coffee. That was a surprise. It has been about 3 months since my Juicer and I became best friends. I added a 30 minute run-in-place program in the morning. I do this 3 times a week. I have gone down one size but not yet replaced any of my clothing. In fact, my “fashionable” clothing is fitting me better! (I did buy some discount clothing at Macy’s. I needed some work out T-shirts.) It took me years to wrap my head around my health.
