Putting “Oomf” into Clothing At Any Age

November 6th, 2010 by Lisa Metcalf

Though we certainly shouldn’t stray too far from acting our ages, there’s no reason that middle age plus size clothing should suffer from looking too old—it’s how old we feel at heart that really matters, after all. Putting a little “oomf” into your wardrobe doesn’t have to be difficult either, and doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. With all of these limitations busted, what have you got to lose?

Spice it up!

Buy yourself something nice. A woman needs no excuse to shop. Adding just one new top, skirt, or funky scarf will freshen up a wardrobe and give you a bit of a boost. It doesn’t have to be a large purchase, just something that stands out from the classics (I’ve thrown out the phrase “old reliables”).

Don’t forget to accessorize.

There’s no easier way to make your appearance pop than to add a fun accessory to the mix. Try a chunky piece of jewelry, or shoes in a color you wouldn’t usually purchase. It doesn’t have to be a pair of magenta stilettos to make your appearance look younger (nor do you want to look that young anyway).

Bold does the trick.

Here the magenta is probably popping back up in your mind—but no! It could be a lovely shade of orange, or a deep purple. Try classic fits in different colors to stay comfortable but add just a little something eye-catching. There’s nothing more energizing than adding a bit of brightness into your day.

Above all else, remember to be confident in your middle age plus size clothing. Confidence radiates as vitality, and there’s nothing more “oomf” than a beautiful, confident smile to go along with that outfit you’re wearing.
